” In 1974, a friend at a job I had that time introduced me to two film students from USC in Southern California, Brent Maddock, and Steve Wiener. They mentioned to me that one of their good friends and fellow students, Fred Burns, had finished his senior thesis film, that he had drawn EVERYframe for, but that he couldn’t find any music for it. They mentioned to me that it was an animation about a car chase, and I told them that I had a car chase song.
Soon I played it for Fred and I saw the film and we both agreed it was a match. Soon after that, it was shown at the famous Los Angeles film festival, FilmEx, in Century City in Los Angeles. I’ve played this song in my concerts ever since then, and I always wished people could see Fred’s incredible work. Finally, I asked him if I could have a disc of it and put it on our YouTube channel and he said yes, and it is wonderful now to see this incredible restoration by Casey Herbert now.
Now onto “They Call the Carousel Columbia.” I already have the music for it.—George Winston, April 8, 2020.
