In severe frosts at temperatures below -20 degrees, the 2.0 TFSI engine warms up to 90 degrees for a very long time or does not gain an antifreeze temperature of 90 degrees at all. I also noticed that if the engine is warmed up and go out on a country highway, the antifreeze temperature drops to 70-80 degrees.
In some cases, it helps to replace the second additional thermostat of the variator https://www.drive2.ru/l/5867387131957... / (article number of the Mahle TH580 thermostat, original VAG 4E0121113).
You have to turn off the AUTO cabin climate mode, manually switch the fan speed to 1-3 divisions, then the engine almost instantly gains a temperature of 90 degrees. With automatic climate control, all the heat goes into the cabin "for comfort".
If the temperature is -15 and above in winter, then there are no problems with warming up, even if the climate is in AUTO mode. I usually warm up a cold engine for no more than 5 minutes while I clean the snow. If it's too cold (below -20), then I warm up for 10 minutes, then I drive slowly without sudden accelerations.
