She somehow knew she would meet her again, someday. But their reunion couldn't be in worse circumstances. Hapi had hurried ahead to take down Cornelia herself, but quickly ended up at a disadvantage.
"Ah, it's so good to see you again. Now you're going back in your cage."
Her voice was the last thing Hapi heard before passing out.
When she woke, Hapi found herself inside a dark cell.
No! Not again! Hapi struggled to keep her cool as horrible memories resurfacing.
Hapi tried to escape. The rope was too tight for her to unfasten so she took to pulling at it. The length dangling from the ceiling looked so thin and frail, yet she could not get it to break. Hapi was so desperate that she even tried sighing, yet no monsters appeared.
Hapi heard footsteps. She stopped and stood still, waiting for her visitor.
As expected, it was her captor who approached. That wide smile of hers brought back many more awful memories.
This is it. It's a different dungeon, but it doesn't matter. I'm her test subject once again.
"Oh my, what a charming guest," she purred, "let me take care of you."
The woman raised her hand with a self-satisfied huff.
A spell! The first of many, I'm sure... A green light bathed Hapi's body. She winced and squeezed her eyes shut. Yet, though the hum of magic filled the air, she felt no pain.
Confused, Hapi slowly opened her eyes. The green glare was gone, so she looked up. Cornelia's arms were crossed, like she hadn't moved at all, but Hapi could feel something. Tingling all over her body, and her feet lifting off the ground. It looked as though Cornelia was somehow moving too.
Hapi couldn't feel the ground beneath her feet. Her legs were somehow kicking in the air. With a cry, she glanced downward to see the ground sinking below her. She didn't register the amused chuckle her captor made.
What's going on? Hapi panicked. What in the world was that magic?
To her eyes, it looked as though she was lifting into the air. Or that her legs were getting shorter and shorter. In fact, it felt like she was collapsing into herself somehow, smaller and smaller.
That spell must be making me smaller. I didn't know that was even possible. But if anyone can do that, it's her...
Hapi kicked slower and slower. She could only watch as she shrank by the second. With one last feeble grunt, she tugged on her bindings, but it was useless. She was bound, shrinking, and utterly at the mercy of this wretched woman once again. Nothing could be worse. As if reading her thoughts, Cornelia let out an amused chuckle.
Just looking at the woman was too much, so Hapi glanced away. But then she saw the ground below, so much further away than before. Seeing her legs dangling over such a drop caused her to cry out. The pathetic little noise she made was so high-pitched, it didn't even sound like her own voice. Yet that was the least of her concerns as her body became smaller and smaller, until she was left at a pathetically puny size.
Once again, Hapi found herself captive and subject to experiments from the same woman. Like her worst nightmares had become real. But Hapi did not give in to despair. Not yet.
I'm small, but I've escaped from you before. I'll do it again.
But the words failed her, caught in her throat. Hapi was simply too scared to say anything. The woman before her was gigantic, so immense she knew she could do anything to her, regardless of how fiercely she resisted. It would be like a tiny rat fighting a giant. Right when she thought things couldn't get any worse, Cornelia came closer. Her huge hand reached for Hapi's shrunken form.
"Aww, such a shame." Hapi cried out, scrunching her eyes shut and flinching away as much as she could. A huge force squeeze her body from all directions, making her cry out.
Hapi opened her eyes, though she soon wished she could close them forever. She saw the collosal digits that constricted her form, at the end of an immense limb that looked as though it went on forever. One spell had reduced her to such a pathetically small size. A cat would look as big as a demonic beast to her now. Hapi could only wonder what would become of her...
