At launch, the RTX 3080 offered a real incentive to buy one of the 80 series Geforces (as opposed to the better value 70s, or better performing 80 Tis) for the first time in years. Performance aside, its main benefit over the much cheaper RTX 3070 is the extra 2GB of VRAM, however today's games seem to be far more VRAM hungry than they were in 2020. Is this 25% larger frame buffer really enough to help the 3080 stay relevant?
