Natasha Bedingfield - The Making of Unwritten (Vevo Footnotes)
There's no keeping "Unwritten" down. Natasha Bedingfield's 2004 gem, originally from the Brit singer's debut album of the same name, was the theme song for the 2006 hit US TV show, 'The Hills,' had a 2020 run at TikTok from that "like yhop" interpolation, and bubbled up again from its use in last year's Sydney Sweeny rom-com, 'Anything But You.' Bedingfield initially wrote the song for her 14-year-old brother, an ode to his wide-eyed dreams. GRAMMY nominations, BRIT Award nominations - "Unwritten" is clever and catchy and all sorts of kudos followed. Hit our Footnotes interview to learn about the two distinct videos of the song, the way the choir section was recorded, and how the singer feels that "Unwritten" isn't just her song, but our song, too.
