Robert Lawrence Luca's album of jazz guitar(ed) stylings on the Mount Vernon Music label is simply an album I cannot live without.
I remember buying it for 10 cents at a rummage sale a long time ago. After I fished the album out from under some Perry Como, and glancing at the cover, I thought it was just awful, and I had a feeling of one that either the album could be just bad or REALLY bad-- especially after flipping over the cover to view the tracklisting with titles such as "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" as well as a composition inspired by Chopin . Bringing it home and playing it, I realized that Mr. Luca does these two selections in a very tasteful and subtle manner. One almost does not recognize the songs, he is that talented of a musician. Definitely a disc I would take to my desert island!
