🎨 Ink Shader - Blender Tutorial - PART 1 🎨
Are you looking to create a 2D ink drawing effect directly in Blender? This video will walk you through the basics of building an ink shader from scratch, perfect for adding a hand-drawn look to your 3D models. In just under 5 minutes, we’ll create a stylized shader that captures the essence of traditional ink textures—no extra software needed!
In this first part, we’ll explore the node setup in Blender (using version 3.6) and incorporate a crosshatch texture for added style. Part two will take us into Photoshop, where we’ll refine the look to resemble aged parchment.
Here's what you'll learn:
Setting Up the Shader - Discover how to build a custom material, ditching the usual Principled BSDF for a Diffuse BSDF with a Shader to RGB node.
This approach gives a simplified, ink-like effect.
Adding Texture - We'll import a crosshatch JPG texture (available in the description) and blend it with the shader output to achieve an authentic ink feel.
Fine-Tuning with Color Ramp - Learn how to use a Color Ramp node to control the contrast and limit the colors to just two, like blue and orange, for a striking visual.
Adjusting Scale and Rotation - Using Node Wrangler, we’ll map and tweak the crosshatch pattern to fit your model perfectly.
Finalizing in Eevee - Complete the look with basic rendering settings in Eevee, ready to showcase your ink-inspired creation!
