AI vs. Software engineers? Should you really stop learning to code?
You've seen the buzz about Devin, the first AI software engineer. Maybe even feeling a little nervous about the future? I’m Jean your trusted engineering mentor - let’s talk about impact of AI on our careers.
When you see Twitter Hype Machine remember to take it with a grain of salt. Look, I can't say for sure what's going on behind the scenes at Devin. But as an engineer myself, these marketing videos feel...off. Now, don't get me wrong, AI has incredible potential. I would also watch out for “exponential growth”.
But is it about to steal all our jobs tomorrow? Absolutely not.
Don't let marketing hype scare you into abandoning your coding dreams. Seriously, I don't see a better career path out there anyways. AI will impact all industries and it it not going to abnormally impacct software engineering more than other industries.
Like if AI replaces people, it’s going to be the repetitive tasks first, like cashiers, accounting, and even doctors.
