At number one we have the WW2 V-1 Rocket otherwise known as the buzzbomb. It gained this nickname as a result of it’s pulse jet engine creating a loud buzzing sound that increased in intensity the closer it got to you.
However, the most terrifying sound associated with the V-1 is silence. This is because the engines cut off right before it entered a steep dive, ready to obliterate its target.
