Tip: For edible gourds pick when they are young, for sponges let them fully mature
Harvest luffa when it is small, green and less than 6 inches long. At this stage, luffa can be eaten much like zucchini and okra. If you want to grow it out for sponges, leave on the vine until fully matured and fibers have formed.
