bluewater pacific ocean crossing MAN OVERBOARD
Bluewater Pacific ocean crossing - man overboardIn this episode we continue our sail to Fiji.
We thought the second part of our trip would be a breeze after the storm, but there was still plenty happening on board to keep us on our toes.
The genoa not furling was a potential mast breaker. Luckily, we discovered the problem in moderate winds and could deal with it before it became a bigger issue.
For the eagle eyed among you, you will see that we did have the genoa back on and furled when we entered Fijian waters.
The wind had dropped considerably to the point where the full genoa was needed to maintain boat speed, and lord knows we needed that (We certainly didn’t set any records with our slow crossing). When we raised the sail again it must have lifted the internal sleeve, that had dropped and was causing all the problems.
Unfortunately, this solution was short lived. The genoa sleeve is yet another part of the boat that we will need to replace now that we are in Fiji.
When we landed our first fish, Rob was able to make it all about him! Getting impaled on the fish hook looked pretty sore, but Rob made light of it. If it had been me there would have been a lot more made of the whole affair.
And what about Finn going overboard. Did he jump or was he pushed?
Bula Fiji.
