As we open the doors of the new AFS Cinema, we present some of our favorite Lone Star State films. SUGARLAND EXPRESS, Steven Spielberg’s first theatrical feature, is also one of the great Texas movies. Goldie Hawn stars as a woman who helps her husband (William Atherton) escape from prison so they can retrieve their child from a foster home. They take a friendly highway patrolman hostage and lead seemingly every police vehicle in the state on a slow motion chase in this daring and fascinating film that established Spielberg as Hollywood’s most interesting new director.
