I decided to go to an antique store in an attempt to find Chumlee's glory. Like a reality TV star, I wanted to take a high concept idea and make it educational — in my case, picking a random awesome item at an antique store and learning the story it told. Crazy Crystals delivered.

This patent medicine was a hit...scam....in the early 20th century. But their sponsorship also brought country music to the radio waves in an enduring way. What does it mean when a laxative mainstreams a genre?
