"Not much online about WNOV, at least not the early history of the stations, and even less about the air staff during the sixties. One of the things I did come across was that WNOV was a sister station to Chicago's WVON- and that the station began broadcasting at 860 in 1967. It's odd that even within a VERY lengthy examination of WVON's history, WNOV rated not more than a brief, BRIEF blip- and a blip that still didn't reveal anything of note.

But- presented here are a package of jingles for WNOV, using a similar mix from various PAMS series that were heard on WVON; Series 28, 34, 35. And as with all of PAMS Soul jingles, insurance salesman by day, jingle singer by night Peyton Park is prowling, howling, growling all over the place in these jingles. Peyton was an astonishing vocalist, but at times, and seemingly just when he was performing jingles specifically for the soul stations, he could tend to go off the rails a bit. I don't know if PAMS encouraged this, thinking it would sound much more soulful or what. However, for these jingles, Peyton keeps his immense talent in check, turning in a great performance on every cut.

The radio personalities represented here include:
Jim Frazier
Cecil Hale
Bill "Buterball" Crane (note: apparently, there were several radio DJs going by the handle "Butterball"; however, from what I could determine, there was only one, presumably, the original, by the name of BIll Crane.)
---------------------------
JIm Sprague (or Jim Spragg, or Jim Spraggs? Peyton Park's over-souling makes it a bit hard to figure out just what it is he's saying- and there is zero about this radio personality online.)
