Have you ever had your SACROILIAC JOINT (SI) joint going out of alignment (can happen even to everyone but very common during pregnancy!)⬇️

Don’t worry you aren’t alone! Studies have shown that women may suffer from postpartum pelvic girdle pain (PPGP) and/or persistent low back pain 6 months to 11 years after delivery‼️

I had been feeling GREAT until I bent over lifting my toddler and felt it go…BUT I luckily knew what happened and how to treat it so it only took a week to recover and I was still able to lift, carry, and keep up with my wild toddler!🙌

The point is…PAIN during pregnancy is NOT normal & should be treated asap with PT!⬇️

An often overlooked or misdiagnosed source of pain is your SI joint! It is often misaligned or “out of place” as people say due to muscle imbalances, postural changes, stiffness, hypermobility, etc.⬇️⬇️⬇️

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy that specializes in pelvic, visceral, and orthopedic PT, I treat too many mamas with acute and/or chronic pain because they never received adequate education, treatment, and exercise during pregnancy and postpartum by a pelvic floor physical therapist❌ WHY?!⬇️

There are a lot of fear based behaviors and fear avoidance when it comes to exercise during pregnancy and pp recovery but evidence based research suggests that regular physical activity and exercise during pregnancy and pp is associated with many health benefits for the baby and mother. These benefits include:

✅dec. risk of gestational hypertension

✅dec. risk of C-section delivery, perineal tears, and instrumental delivery
