Ben Violot, Canadian Health Coach and Endurance Athlete chats to Jonno about Living La Vida low carb and running 100 miles in sandals!
Yes, you heard right... sandals!!!

"I used to weigh 120kg, drink daily, and smoke a pack a day, so at 25 I was looking at myself wondering when I'd have my first heart attack, considering it ran in the family and had taken my father at age 50."

"I'd experimented with many diets, and eventually tried something that would best be described as Atkins. I lost tons of weight and suddenly could manage my hunger, so I never looked back, and kept refining this over the years as I increased my knowledge."

"Once I'd handled the carb addiction, smoking and drinking felt like a piece of cake. I got into running as well, and quickly gravitated to minimalist and barefoot style running, eventually leading to me running exclusively in sandals, even in trail races."

Ben's most recent accomplishments (always in sandals) :
GR49 Fastest Known Time - 108 km, 4300 m elevation in 20h28 - a trail that connects the Mediterranean to the famous Verdon Gorges via rocky shepherd trails.
3rd place at 24h Non-Stop d'Eppeville - his first ever 24h race!
