Feedback in Electrical / Electronic Circuits:
In the electrical/ electronic circuits and in control systems, the fraction of the output signal is sampled using the feedback network and it is feed back to the input side.
On the input side, using mixer / comparator circuit, the feedback signal is either added or subtracted from the source signal.
Negative Feedback:
In the negative feedback, the feedback signal is subtracted from the source signal. In this type of feedback, the actual input to the circuit or basic amplifier is less than the source signal.
This type of feedback is used in amplifier circuits and control systems to improve the overall stability.
Positive Feedback:
In positive feedback, the feedback signal is added with the source signal. This type of feedback is used in oscillators and multivibrator circuits.
Effect of Negative Feedback on the Amplifier:
1) Desensitises the gain
2) Reduces Non-Linear Distortion
3) Reduces the effect of noise / interference
4) Increases the bandwidth
5) Depending on the feedback topology, it modifies the input and output impedance.
6) Reduces the gain of the amplifier
In this video, the general structure of the feedback amplifier is explained and the expression of the closed loop gain of the amplifier is derived. Moreover, the concept of loop gain and its effect on the feedback amplifier is also explained.
At the later part of the video, the concept of the virtual ground of the op-amp is explained from the feedback amplifier perspective.
This video will be helpful to all the students of science and engineering in understanding the concept of the negative feedback in the amplifiers, and the effect of negative feedback on amplifier.
