Session 3 of 3

Series Description: Professional development activities targeting early career hydrologists effectively highlight career opportunities within and beyond academia; however, these conversations often overlook how early career hydrologists can “find their niche” within the large variety of career opportunities. For this year’s Navigating Academic Waters webinar series the AGU Hydrology Section Student Subcommittee is developing a series of webinars and working sessions to help early career hydrologists develop essential skills that allow them to more effectively create the hydrologic niche that best aligns with their values and desired career goals.

Session Description: Mentorship is crucial for success in academic and non-academic professions, but it is frequently non-prioritized as a professional development strategy. This webinar provides tools allowing ECRs to overcome these mentorship gaps through a panel discussion that provides critical insights into positive mentoring relationships. A complementary working session will guide participants to identify their current network, identify unmet needs, and strategize how to expand their network through a mentor mapping exercise. This interactive webinar will empower participants to actively develop their mentoring relationships, contributing to more positive professional outcomes.
