Session 1 of 3
Series Description: Professional development activities targeting early career hydrologists effectively highlight career opportunities within and beyond academia; however, these conversations often overlook how early career hydrologists can “find their niche” within the large variety of career opportunities. For this year’s Navigating Academic Waters webinar series the AGU Hydrology Section Student Subcommittee is developing a series of webinars and working sessions to help early career hydrologists develop essential skills that allow them to more effectively create the hydrologic niche that best aligns with their values and desired career goals.
Session Description: With so many diverse career paths, it can be difficult to determine a direction that most aligns with one’s professional goals, skills, and values. This seminar highlights opportunities that may be off the beaten path; a panel of professionals representing diverse organizations will each discuss their organization, how they determined their path, and the steps they took to land their current position. The hands-on co-working session will offer a framework for participants to identify their unique skills and values, consider potential career paths, and identify action steps to set out on their own unique path.
