By the end of the 90’s it was incredibly clear that the world had caught Resident Evil fever, with the first three games in the franchise selling over 14 million copies by the turn of the millennium. As I mentioned in my last video, Capcom was well aware of the success of the IP at this point, and had multiple side projects in the works to really cash in on the hype building around the brand. And today, we’re taking a look at the first official spin-off of the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Survivor. As I’m sure a lot of you know by now, I normally like to give a brief overview of how each game I cover came to be, but there is genuinely next to no information available about Survivor’s development. There are some little bits of information we have as well as some things that we can safely assume using knowledge of other RE projects around the time, but I’ll be sprinkling those in as they come up. So, would the Resident Evil franchise’s first venture outside the mainline entries be any good? Well, let’s talk about it.
