Update End Of Term 1 Ambleside Online
Here's an update after finishing our first ever Term 1 of Ambleside Online with a year 1, 3, & 4. I'm so proud of my kids, happy with what we've accomplished, and also trying to figure out how to fit in a few other "riches" once we get the hang of things.
Things we incorporated:
*Scheduled reads minus one book per child
A few free reads per child for year 3 & 4 (none for year 1).
*Copywork/recitation
*Hymns/Folksongs/Poems/Bible
*Once a week dictation for year 4
*Oral narrations for each scheduled read for each child (woo!)
*Nature study (but no nature journaling)
*Occasional handicrafts including orange bird feeders, Christmas ornaments, beginner embroidery, and beginner felting set (only my year 3 girl did this one).
Things we didn't start yet:
*Spanish
*Written once a week narration for my year 4
*Nature journaling (just one entry in the fall)
*Shakespeare
*Plutarch
